A Barn on Mormon Row

Grand Tetons - Antelope Flats

Posted: August 21st, 2010 @ 10:30am

I have always said that the Grand Tetons are probably the single most beautiful location in the lower 48 states. There are many places that are beautiful and have beautiful places, but from a single spectacular "wow" factor, these mountains are untouchable.
When visiting the Tetons, I feel it is a must to visit a few iconic locations for some wall hanger images. One of my favorite is Mormon Row. Mormon Row is located in the Antelope Flats area and has several old looking barns and structures with the Teton range in the background. I have always been drawn to this barn because of the path through the grass that leads you to the front door. My other favorite compositional device is the peak of the barn can be used to repeat the peak of the "Grand Teton" in the background. It is a great place to visit, year round and in all weather conditions. No two days are ever alike.
This image was made using the Nikon D-200 with a Tamron 10-24mm lens on the Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT tripod. I combined 5 bracketed image set at one stop apart in Photomatix. I used a cable release in combination with the sturdy tripod to ensure no camera movement.
