Join David Akoubian in historic and scenic Apalachicola, Florida for an intense photography weekend workshop.
Apalachicola rests peacefully at the mouth of the Apalachicola River before it empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The area is famous for it's fishing heritage, especially world famous Apalachicola Oysters. The downtown area is home to many historic and rustic buildings which are perfect for HDR photography.
We recommend staying at the Gibson Inn or one of the Bed and Breakfast in Apalachicola. They are offering us a discounted rate equal to their AAA rate each night. If you come down a day or so early, you will still be given the discounted rate. Just mention you are with the Bear Woods Photography group. A few miles from Apalachicola is St. George Island. There are several companies that rent homes for the week if you are interested in extending your stay. Companies I have used in the past are Resort Vacation Properties of St. George Island and Collins Vacation Rentals.
We will meet at the Gibson Inn at 6 a.m. on Friday morning and head out into the field shortly thereafter. We recommend bringing a variety of lenses to capture everything from macro, landscapes and wildlife. We will cover HDR techniques as well as using Lensbaby lenses. For those interested in borrowing a Lensbaby for a few days, we will have our demo units with us!
Transportation, lodging and meals are the responsibility of the participants. We will be available at one of the local coffee houses or the Gibson on Friday and Saturday afternoons for a critique session.
I will be joined by Cecil Holmes for the event. We encourage you to bring your laptops for any additional instruction you might need.
The workshop fee is $199 and will be limited to only 12 participants.
